Lester Pearlstein, Ph.D.

Dr. Lester Pearlstein is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and one of the founding members of Charlottesville Psychological Associates since 1979. He graduated from Penn State University with a PhD in 1976, where his research interest was on changing parenting attitudes and behaviors. Prior to joining Charlottesville Psychological Associates, Dr. Pearlstein was a Psychologist in the Counseling Psychological Service Centers at the University of Virginia and at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Pearlstein also taught a Psychotherapy course for a number of years in the Clinical Psychology Department at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Pearlstein primarily treats adults and couples in his clinical practice. Generally clients who seek help from Dr. Pearlstein are suffering from:

Depression
Anxiety, including, but not limited to, obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic disorder
Loss and grief reaction
Reaction to stressful life situations
Psychological difficulties related to physical illness
Dealing with recovery from substance abuse or dependence
Dealing with a difficult family member
Coping with the problems of aging.
